Have you ever wondered how good your phone camera is?

Camni app gives you a chance to evaluate the quality of your cell phone camera as well as quality of your photos based on scientificaly proven methods, while providing the key parameters that are usualy not given buy the manufacturer. Also, Camni gives tips how to improve photos. The following parameters are swhown as a result of an photo analysis:

Why are these parameters important? They acctualy tell you how good your photo is and indicate if there's a room for improvements. The most of camera users use auto settings which in most of cases give satisfactory results, but in certain conditions if we adjust some camera settings we can get higher quality images. Now, let's explain the parameters.

Exposure time parametar is more or less self explanatory. It represents the time for which are the pixels exposed to light and it's usualy adjusted toghether with ISO.

ISO (sensitivity) setting tells how sensitive is your camera sensor to light. Typicaly this parameter is adjisustable. Lower values indicate that more light is needed to reach the saturation level, while the higher ISO values need less light to lead the sensor to the saturation.  It has been shown that the best signal-to-noise ratio can be achieved the lowest ISO setting.

Number of under/overexposed pixels gives you the information how optimal are ISO  and exposure time settings. If you have many underexposed pixels it means that exposure time can be longer or the sensitivity higher. On the other hand if there are many overexposed pixels it means that the ISO is too high or exposure time is too long.

One of the most important sensor parameters that determines the quality of your photo or camera is noise. In digital cameras noise sources can be various, thermal noise, flicker noise, fixed pattern noise, even the light generates noise (so-called photon shot noise). Noise is determined by the quality of the sensor itself and  it can be reducted during the design process applying special circuit techniques or aftertwards in image processing by applying techniques such are i.e. binning or averaging. Don't be surprised if you see much higher noise levels in daylight conditions than in the low light level conditions since the photon shoot noise would be the most dominant noise source.

Dynamic range  is a ratio between the highest observed signal level and the noise floor and It tells us how many detail levels we can distingush in our photos.
